View a Customer's Financial History

This topic explains how to see the history of a customer's charges and payments.

View the Customer's History

  1. Open a customer account.
  2. Click the History tab.
  3. Click the Financial sub-tab if it's not already selected. All steps below this are optional.
  4. If you want to see a different aspect of customer history, right-click anywhere within the tab and select Balances, Taxes & Fees, Variable Rates, Tickets, Containers, Invoices, or WOs. These "views" are explained below.
  5. If you want to only see certain types of transactions, right-click anywhere within the tab, hover on Display Options, and uncheck any items (transaction types) you want to filter out.

When You're Done

The customer's financial history displays with the newest transactions at the top. The screen also shows the aging on what the customer owes, the amount of any security deposit on file, the last date when the customer got a bill, and the amount of any charges entered since the last time a bill was created.

Views of Customer History

Some transactions include more details than you can reasonably read on a single line. Trash Flow handles those details by letting you switch to a different view of customer history. Right-click anywhere within financial history to change the view.

  • Balances: Includes the period of charges (e.g., service from 4/1/2026 to 4/30/2026) and a running balance. Trash Flow defaults to this view when opening an account.

  • Taxes & Fees: Shows different taxes the customer was charged. This view allows you to check the details of complex tax situations.

  • Variable Rates: Shows the calculations for variable rate charges, e.g. 3.52 tons @ $80/ton, $281.60.

  • Tickets: Includes the ticket number, driver, and truck from trips to the transfer station or landfill.

  • Containers: If a charge is associated with a container placement on the account this view shows the address and container number.

  • Invoices: Shows the relevant invoice number for charges that have been invoiced.

  • WOs: Shows the work order number for charges associated with a work order. This view also shows the initials of the user who entered each transaction.
