Set Up Cash Discount Rates

This article explains how to set up Cash Discount rates and update customer pricing in Trash Flow after the feature has been enabled.

Note: We strongly recommend performing this process with a Trash Flow representative. Please contact Trash Flow at 800-708-8642 for assistance.

Before You Begin

  • Cash Discounts must be enabled with the help of a Trash Flow representative.

  • Ensure Trash Flow is updated to the current version.

  • Pick up any pending web payments before making any changes.

Configure the Cash Discount Percentage

  1. From the Trash Flow tilebar, click System > Setup > Lists > Businesses.

  2. Open the business that will use Cash Discounts.

  3. Enter the desired value in Cash Discount %.

    Note: 3% is the maximum percentage.

  4. Save your changes.

Trash Flow uses this value to calculate adjusted rates automatically.

Run the Global Price Change

The Global Price Change updates customer rates so the standard rate reflects the configured Cash Discount percentage.

Warning: Do not use Trash Flow while the Global Price Change is running. After following these instructions and clicking OK, wait until the process is complete.

  1. From the Trash Flow tilebar, click System > Maintenance > Global Price Change > Setting Cash Discount Rates.

  2. Use filters to define which customers to include in the rate change by:

    • Account Type

    • Billing Group

    • Sales Tax District

    • Geographic Region

    • Business

  3. 3. (Optional) Select:

    • Change only Customer’s Regular Rate

    • Include Container Placements

    • Ignore Autopay Customers

  4. Enter a 1-digit Bill Code Extension to distinguish new rates.

    • Bill codes are 6 digits maximum.

    • Trash Flow will shorten bill codes that are too long to include the extension.

  5. Click OK to begin the process.

Once the Global Price Change is complete:

  • A Cash Discount Setup Report is generated automatically.

  • Customer rates are increased to the new standard rate.

  • New bill codes are created using the specified extension.

  • Original bill codes remain available, but are removed from Cash Discount customer accounts.

When You're Done

After rates are updated:

  • Customers paying by cash, check, or ACH receive a Cash Discount at time of payment.

  • Customers paying by credit or debit card pay the standard rate.

  • TrashBilling.com reflects the correct amounts automatically.
