What Do I Do If a Customer’s Taxes are Incorrect?
If a customer was not taxed at the correct rate(s), you may want to find out what caused the error to prevent its happening again. Here are the reasons that charges might not be taxed correctly.
- Incorrect percentage on a sales tax district: The customer should be assigned to a sales tax district on the Rates tab of their customer information window. Look up that district to see if the tax percentages are correct.
- Bill code was not taxable: Taxes must be turned on for each individual bill code. Click and select a bill code that was not taxed correctly. Make sure the appropriate taxes listed in the right-hand column are set to .
- Customer is set as tax-exempt: The Rates tab of the customer information window has a field called Tax Ex#. If anything at all is typed in this box, Trash Flow will treat the customer as tax exempt.
