The TeleRoute mobile app can be downloaded from the iTunes store or Google Play store on your mobile device. Once installed, log in with your hauler ID and the password set up in the office. You must select the truck, driver, and route. Tap to begin.
You’ll now be looking at a scrollable list of all the stops on the route in order. After you pick up the trash at a stop just tap . If you need to enter something special or something is wrong there tap . If you need to enter any , do that first to save time. Your other choices are:
- Trash Not Out: Customer hasn’t left their trash out yet. Depending on your settings TeleRoute may ask whether you want to take a picture; the picture will automatically be saved to the customer’s account in Trash Flow so the office workers can prove to then that their trash was not out.
- Bin Blocked: You’re not able to empty the container. Depending on your settings TeleRoute may ask whether you want to take a picture; the picture will automatically be saved to the customer’s account in Trash Flow so the office workers can prove to them that the container was blocked.
- Take Picture: Use the device to take a picture of a blocked dumpster, damaged container, overfull dumpster, etc. The picture will automatically be saved to the customer’s account in Trash Flow.
- Extras: Access the list of extra items set up in the office. Tap to check whatever items the customer had, then X out of the list. Tap once finished.
Anything you check here other than Picked Up is called an exception. Exceptions will automatically be sent back to the office so they can see what stops were missed, charge customers for extra items, etc.
You can swipe up and down to look ahead or backwards in the route. Tap the arrow at the top left to jump to the next open stop. You can also go to the Services tab and choose to jump to a specific stop number. If you need to go back and change something on a stop just tap Reopen. Go to across the top to send a message to the office or re-read any messages they’ve sent you. If the office sends you a message it will automatically pop up on your screen and give you the opportunity to respond. Tap across the top to see a map of the route; each stop will be shown as a pin on the map. Go to (also across the top) to record other events besides picking up stops.
- Fuel Stop Choose the gas station (if listed) and tap . Fill in the Miles or hours on truck, gallons of fuel pumped and the unit price (e.g. $3.07), and/or the final cost of the fuel. Tap when you leave.
- Break: Tap when you begin, then when you’re back on the road.
- Breakdown: Type in a description of the problem and tap . Once fixed describe how the problem was resolved and tap , or tap if you won’t be continuing the route today.
- Landfill: Choose a site, then tap . Enter the tip weight, ticket number, and/or cost, then tap and .
When you’re finished, tap . Once you are done for the day and back at the garage tap . IMPORTANT: If you log out while your device still has activities to send but isn’t connected to a network TeleRoute will lose any information you entered since the last time it sent data back to Trash Flow.
There are a couple of options in the Settings menu to know about. Checking WiFi Only forces the device to check for messages and send info to the office only when on a WiFi connection; it will avoid doing this over the cell phone network. Upload Images on WiFi Only sets it to send messages and other communications, but wait until you’re on a WiFi network to send any photos. You can also choose whether landfill weights are recorded in LBS or TON. There’s a setting here that chooses whether TeleRoute will prompt you for a picture whenever you choose Trash Not Out or Dumpster Blocked. Clicking does just that—clears all the data off the device. Only do this if something has gone wrong with the app.
