Doing Work Orders with TeleRoute

The TeleRoute mobile app can be downloaded from the iTunes store or Google Play store on your mobile device. Once installed, log in with your hauler ID and the password set up in the office. You must select the truck and driver. Tap Workorders to begin.

You’ll now be looking at a scrollable list of all your work orders for the day in the order assigned at the office. You can tap Show Map at any time to see a map of the area around the jobsite. Tap Start when you arrive at a jobsite. You can enter information about the job or note if something is wrong; the office will be able to see what you enter when editing or financially completing the work order. Your choices are:

  • Extras: Access the list of extra items set up in the office. Tap to check whatever they need to charge for (liner, dry run, etc.) then X out of the list.
  • Change Container: If necessary, enter the number of the container you’re leaving at the job site. This is especially important if the customer was originally supposed to get a specific container as part of the work order, but you had to bring a different one.
  • Add Note: Enter any note you want the office to see when completing the work order. Tap Save once finished.
  • Take Picture: Use the device to take a picture at the site. This is usually used if the can is damaged, inaccessible, etc. Tap Save after you take the picture.
  • Landfill: Select from the list of landfills set up at the office. Check “Arrived at Landfill” when you get to the scalehouse. On leaving enter the Tip Weight, Ticket #, and/or Cost. Enter a Note if necessary. Check “Departed Landfill” when you leave. Tap Save once finished.

If at any point you need to leave a job to work on something else just tap Pause; you can start it again later. (Tapping Cancel resets everything back to its original state.) Tap Complete once you’re finished with the work order. If you later need to go back and add something—a picture, a note, data from the landfill ticket—tap Reopen to get back in to the work order. Go to Messages across the top to send a message to the office or re-read any messages they’ve sent you. If the office sends you a message it will automatically pop up on your screen and give you the opportunity to respond.Go to Services (also across the top) to record other events besides doing work orders.

  • Fuel Stop Choose the gas station (if listed) and tap Arrived at station. Fill in the Miles or hours on truck, gallons of fuel pumped and the unit price (e.g. $3.07); that will calculate the total cost of fuel. Tap Departed Station when you leave.
  • Break: Tap Start Break when you begin, then End Break when you’re back on the road.
  • Breakdown: Type in a description of the problem and tap Notify of Breakdown. Once fixed describe how the problem was resolved and tap Truck Back On Road, or tap Ending Route Here if you won’t be continuing the route today.
  • Landfill: This works as described above.

There are a couple of options in the Settings menu to know about. Checking WiFi Only forces the device to check for messages and send info to the office only when on a WiFi connection; it will avoid doing this over the cell phone network. Upload Images on WiFi Only sets it to send messages and other communications, but wait until you’re on a WiFi network to send any photos. You can also choose whether landfill weights are recorded in LBS or TON. Clicking Clear All Data does just that—clears all the data off the device. Only do this if something has gone wrong with the app.
