Setting Up Your Business
Before you begin using Trash Flow you need to set up your business information in the program. The process is done from . This section guides you through the topics that will help you get your business information into Trash Flow:
This section only applies if you need to charge taxes to your customers and should be set up first.
- Fee descriptions
- Allows you to enter a decription for each type of tax you charge.
- Enter sales tax districts:
- Allows you to create sales tax districts and enter multiple tax rates
The next two steps below here apply to everyone—do these before you try to enter any customers, routes, containers, or previous balances.
- Enter your business information:
- include basic contact information about your business
- Enter bill groups:
- organize customers based on how they pay (by the month, quarter, year, etc.)

- create different billing rates for your services

- determine how your bills will appear

- Enter your employees: enter the names of your drivers and salespeople
- Enter your trucks: assign dispatchers and track route profitability
- Enter containers: create an inventory of dumpsters, roll-offs, and other containers
Finally there are a few optional steps to speed up customer entry, assist in reporting, or charge customers a fuel surcharge or environmental fee.

- Enter zip codes: speed up entering your customer information
- Enter surcharges: create surcharges for fuel and more
Once you’ve completed these tasks, you can begin to add customers.
