Setting Up Service Types on Routes

Why Use Service Types?

If your company uses both the Routing and Container Tracking modules in Trash Flow and you run different types of routes—trash and recycling, for example—you may find this ability useful. Trash Flow lets you designate routes and container placements as being for a particular type of service. Once these steps are done you can print route sheets or upload routes to TeleRoute knowing that only the containers meant to be on that route will appear.

How To Set Up Service Types

Click System > Setup > Lists > More > Trucks. Choose a truck and select what Type of truck it is. Repeat for the rest of your trucks. Next, open a route, right-click, and go to Route > Route Information. Choose the Truck Type that runs the route. Choose the Service Type for the route as well. Repeat this for all of your routes.

With that done you can begin to set properties on the container placements. To edit these individually go to the Boxes tab on a customer account and double-click a placement. Set the Service Type for the location (that is, what type of waste should this be used for) and, if this has not already been done, set the Type of the box that should be there. We also have a way to edit placements en masse; details of that are below.

Once this is done Trash Flow routes will only show container placements that match the type of route. As you enter new accounts set the serice type and container type on the placement before adding the customer to routes. You can then choose ALL container placements when adding the stop, but Trash Flow will only put the right boxes along the route.

What options are available for Service Types?

  • None (this is the default)
  • Waste
  • Recycling
  • Portolet
  • Compost
  • C&D
  • Waste Oil
  • Washout

The above list is identical for both routes and container placements. The idea is that a route is normally run to pick up one type of trash or provide one type of service, and you only want certain containers on a customer account to appear on a route.

What options are available for Truck Types?

  • None (this is the default)
  • Front Load
  • Rear Load
  • roll-off
  • Hook Lift
  • Pumper
  • Side Load
  • Pneumatic

The above list is identical for both routes and trucks. The idea is that the types of containers along a route are all meant to be serviced by a certain type of truck.

How can I quickly set up my placements?

  1. Click System > Maintenance > More > Mass Edit Placements.
  2. Choose a bill group to work with.
  3. Set the Service Type, Container Type, and Yards.
  4. Continue down the provided list of all container placements in the bill group until you are finished.
