This page gives an example of the most common choices made when you just want to know how many active customers you have. A complete guide to the report options is available here.

In this example we want to see all current customers, not just some subset of them. We therefore set Account Type, Billing Group, Sales Tax District, Bill Codes, Geographic Region, Source Comp., Salesperson, SurCharge, and Businesses, to ALL. Set Select Customers 1 to No Ended; this will eliminate ended customers from the report. Set Show Details to No. Click OK to see the Number of Customers currently active.
