About Completing a Landfill Ticket

Order of Operations

Landfill tickets usually follow this sequence of events.

  1. A vehicle arrives at the scale house to be weighed
  2. Once the weight is recorded the truck is sent to the yard to dispose of waste. (See this link for further explanation of how a vehicle’s ID number, owner, and customer work together in TipTicket.)
  3. When the vehicle returns the operator retrieves the truck from TipTicket.
  4. The operator either weighs the empty vehicle or leaves the known tare weight.
  5. The operator prints the ticket and either takes payment or charges the customer.

Cash Customers

Completing a ticket for a cash customer automatically opens a payment window. When taking electronic payments for this account TipTicket requires that you enter the customer's name and ZIP code; you must fill out these fields to proceed. You may also enter a phone number and/or email address, if desired.

Work Orders

If you have TipTicket set up to complete work orders, you can enter any associated work order number in the WO field. The work order completion form appears with the customer, weight and ticket number already filled in. You should make the weight charge in TipTicket or from the work order, not both.

Printed Ticket

The ticket displays your business name (from Scale Setup); gross, tare, and net weights; vehicle information; descriptions of what was dumped (from the bill codes); customer name, address, and account number; and the origin or destination of the load. Depending on your settings it may also include the price, the scale operator's name, permit numbers, a note, and container information.
