Undoing an Assessment

What is “Undoing” an Assessment?

Some processes in Trash Flow—charging a group of customers for the quarter, printing invoices for commercial customers, etc.—affect a large number of customers at once. Mistakes happen, and you wouldn‘t want to scroll through dozens (or thousands!) of accounts deleting transactions one at a time. Undoing the assessment completely backs out the process like it never happened.

How to Undo an Assessment?

We advise you to call Trash Flow when you need to undo an assessment unless you are sure you know what you‘re removing and why. Click System > Maintenance > Logs > View Process Log, then click OK. Any task that can be undone will have a process number in parentheses followed by the date and time. It will appear something like this:

Assessing Monthly advanced Complete (170959381) 04-27-2010 16:29:41
Assessing Monthly advanced Begun (170959381) 04-27-2010 16:29:41

Write down the process number and click OK or press F12 to close the log. Click System > Maintenance > Undo Assessment. Type the number from the Process Log in the box that appears. Undoing an assessment cannot be reversed, but Trash Flow will automatically make a safety backup here. If you are sure you want to undo the assessment, click OK.

What Options Are Available for Undoing Assessments?

By default this will show the past year of data. It’s pretty rare that you would need to look back at a billing from more than a year ago, but you can change the date here if needed.
